Trans City Productions Team Has “The Nuts”
With Shared Storage Technology From Small Tree
Poker Instruction Production Company Raises ProductivityLas Vegas, NV, September 9, 2009 — As tournament poker continued to rise in popularity, so did the demand for online instructional videos. For Las Vegas-based Trans City Productions, this demand led to a need for better workflow. Lady Luck was on Trans City Productions’ side, as Bob Zelin had the ideal solution for their three workstation facility – shared storage from Small Tree, designer of simple-to-install, inexpensive Mac-based networking and shared storage products for professional video and audio editors.
To facilitate its workflow and increase its editing team’s productivity, Trans City Productions installed Small Tree’s GraniteSTOR shared storage technology with its unique OS X networking capabilities supporting multiple Ethernet ports, tightly integrated with Apple’s built in file sharing system. The GraniteSTOR solution incorporates Small Tree’s PEG4, a 4-port Ethernet card with the Edge-corE ES4524D, a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch certified to work with Small Tree’s technology.
Prior to the Small Tree installation, Trans City Productions was utilizing a bunch of hard drives daisy-chained together among its three editors — to access assets located on another hard drive, an editor had to wait until that hard drive wasn’t in use and then copy the file to their workstation. According to Richard Baldomero, the facility’s head editor, the Small Tree system works seamlessly with programs such as Final Cut Pro, Screenflow and Episode to promote a much smoother workflow. This now allows the editing team to complete intensive projects in four days, instead of the two to three weeks the projects were taking before the Small Tree installation.
“We went from a tedious process of copying files to having immediate access to all of the assets we need,” said Baldomero. “We’re pushing the system as hard as we can and have found zero
flaws. For a small production company like ours that continues to grow, the Small Tree shared storage system’s affordability and scalability is a steal.”
